Airplane Noise in Franklin Park

Located just north of Franklin Park, O'Hare International Airport is the second-busiest airport in the nation. In October of 2013, the airport shifted runway patterns to decrease delays and increase capacity. Many flights are taking new paths and noise complaints in surrounding communities have increased steadily since the reconfiguration. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), "airports are responsible for their noise impact on the communities they occupy. These noise impacts include noise from arrivals and departures, as well as noise from aircraft in a flight path within the immediate vicinity of the airport." The Village of Franklin Park is actively working to identify ways to address the concerns of its residents.
