State Representative Kathleen Willis is sponsoring a school supply drive and will distribute to local schools this fall. Needed items include #2 pencils, crayons, glue, scissors, two-pocket folders, erasers, washable markers, spiral notebooks, rulers and index cards .If you would like to contribute, drop off new school supplies at her office at 112 N. Beginning Wednesday June 11, 2014 at 8 a.m. Franklin Avenue will be closed between Ruby Street and Calwagner. Additionally the parking area in the rear of the north-side of the 9700 block of Franklin Avenue, on the east and west side of the guardrail, located near B-12 Tower will be closed on Monday, June 9th at 8 AM through Monday, June 16th. Homeowners can apply for the 50/50 Sidewalk Program again this year, to help replace damaged and cracked concrete or trip hazards on the public sidewalk near their homes. The homeowner and the Village share the cost evenly. Please email Cindy Sliwinski at CSliwinski@vofp.com or call 847-671-8252 if you would like to be placed on the list. The Cook County Treasurer’s office will be mailing out the 2013 2nd installment tax bill by July 1. The Leyden Township Assessor’s office is updated and ready to assist you in filing your appeal. Stop in at 2501 N. Mannheim Rd. Franklin Park, IL before June 27th, 2014, from 8am-5pm on Monday – Friday. The Cook County Assessor's Office will accepting 2014 property assessment appeals (payable in 2015) at the end of June.
 
The Cook County Animal Control Office is offering affordable rabies vaccinations and microchipping through a mobile clinic that travels around the county through October. Rabies vaccines cost $7 for one year and $21 for three years. Microchipping costs $10.
 
The Village will start branch pick-up on Monday, April 7. Please place all reasonably-sized branches where you place your trash by 7 AM on Monday of the pick-up week. Branches will be picked-up sometime by the end of Friday. Please note that the following dates are subject to change due to storm-related clean-up. Seniors – It’s Time to Apply for Grass-Cutting Program The Village is accepting applications for the Senior Grass Cutting Program now, which will run from May until the end of October. Qualified Seniors will pay $7 per cut. You can obtain an application at Village Hall or by calling 847-671-8240. If you have previously been on the grass or snow program and your health condition has not changed, you will not need to send in a new doctor’s note, but will need to submit an application.
